When our teacher trainee proposed some ideas to improve student learning, one local teacher said, “Wait, wait, wait." He thinks our trainee is always in a hurry to do things, but our trainee believes without encouraging others, things won't change. Our trainee noticed some students weren't studying at home and proposed to have night sessions where they could all study together and the teachers could be there to help. We did this last time when we were here in August (as seen in the photo above). Now that we're back, we would like to do it again; even a parent requested we do so as her child has failed exams in three subjects. "Vision without action is merely a dream. The parents want their children to pass, but we think more locals need to take accountability, as seen in our last blog, "Showing Students We Care". We want to help as much as possible such that when we leave, the locals are able to continue to work together and improve. We need to set goals and take actions to reach them.
