GIVING AND RECEIVING HONEST FEEDBACK

Our trainee can now listen to my honest suggestions and I think that's the first step to progress.
Before he would plan and explain how he would teach his lesson for a while but yesterday I brought a whiteboard and he practiced teaching the lesson in advance. I pretended to be the student to help him see what could happen in the real class. If he didn't see any ineffective parts, I would pause and we would discuss and think of different activities. This way, our trainee could replan and improve his lesson.

We still have some challenges in managing the students in the class. We noticed they were very talkative and loud during some of the activities. To create a better learning in the classroom, the teacher needs to get the students’ attention and engage them.

After class, we reflected on it again and replanned the lesson based on the feedback. This really helps to implement new ideas into our lessons and the trainee is now beginning to think of how to engage students.
