DEVELOPING POSITIVE RELATIONSHIPS WITH STUDENTS

We are not just teaching the students, but we are taking their problems and difficulties as ours and trying to be part of their community.

Teaching English is not enough for the students and the poor. We need empathy and kindness to build trust and a positive relationship.

This happens not only in class, but also outside of class. Sometimes, when our students see me with no smile on my face, they approach and say, “We also feel unhappy when we see you do not smile.” So what would happen if we smile more? If we are more energetic? Can we motivate students to improve themselves and their community?
Before the conflict broke out, we played games and ate seasonal fruits in the forest in Mayu mountain. These were such good times. Teachers not only facilitate students to learn in the class, but they act as role models and inspire their students to be the best that they can be.
